Toolmaker
Based in Bilborough
Permanent – Full-time (37.5 hrs, early finish on Fridays)
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Toolmaker to join the Toolroom at our site in Bilborough, Nottinghamshire.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate toolroom equipment consisting of milling machines, lathe, surface grinders, wire EDM & spark erosion equipment competently.
- Produce components to engineering drawings to a high level.
- Identify improvements and manufacturing methods within the department to increase efficiency and output.
- Maintain works order paperwork and booking through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Follow the Company’s safety culture policy Think, Plan, Take Your Time & Always intervene.
- Suggest and assist with improvement recommendations for the department or Company.
- Report any hazards or near misses using iAuditor.
- Always represent and promote our Company and our values in a positive light in line with Company policies.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably required by your manager or a Director.
- Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
- Perform role in line with Advanex Fundamentals whilst demonstrating Company Core values.
All roles and responsibilities to be carried out in accordance with the Quality Management System, (Work Instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)), good housekeeping, departmental and Company procedures.
The Person
For this role, it is essential that you have the following:
- Level 1 Maths and English or equivalent
- Time-served apprenticeship
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in toolroom environment
- Previous experience of toolroom equipment: milling, lathe, surface grinders, wire & die sink EDM
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to follow instructions and processes
Desired:
- GCSEs (A-C grades including Maths and English (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 2 or 3
- BTEC Engineering qualification
- Experience of working with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
- Work on own initiative
- Experience using EFACS or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

- To ensure that any work situation which may present a serious and imminent danger is reported immediately to a director/manager/health and safety representative.
- To either correct or notify management of any unsafe working practices and of any person behaving in an unsafe manner.
- To be aware of any responsibilities as laid down in Company Health and Safety Policy and relevant risk assessments.
