The Opportunity 

The candidate will provide both preventative and reactive maintenance within the Advanex sites. Working on bespoke machine tools and facility items, the job will require you to undertake schedule maintenance tasks and respond to breakdowns, conducting repairs in line with Health & Safety legislation whilst diagnosing and repairing faults and supporting in identifying root causes and proposing long term preventative solutions.


The Role
 

The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to: 

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns and other faults on production machinery, plant, and facility equipment.
  • Ensure it is safe and operational as quickly as possible.
  • Log work that has been carried out, noting any non-conformances, faults, or errors repaired.
  • Help to identify root causes and proactively look for new and improved ways of working and propose corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Attend and present at section and company meetings as required to proactively and positively support business development and projects.
  • Prioritise works as indicated on the maintenance issues log.
  • Coordinate and support external contractors as directed by Line Manager when the need arises.
  • Develop and build relationships with customers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Support with Project works and complete the installation of new plant, equipment, and services as required.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of bespoke machinery.
  • Communicate potential impact on timelines/deadlines to appropriate stakeholders and suggest alternatives where possible.
  • Apply an innovative approach to tasks undertaken and suggest improvements based on knowledge and expertise.
  • Suggest and assist with improvement recommendations for the department or Company.
  • Report any hazards or near misses using iAuditor.
  • Always represent and promote our Company and our values in a positive light in line with Company policies.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by your Manager or a Director.
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.
  • Perform role in line with Advanex Fundamentals, whilst demonstrating Company core values.

All roles and responsibilities to be carried out in accordance with the Quality Management System (Work Instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)), good housekeeping, departmental, and company procedures.


The person 

For this role, it is essential that you have the following: 

  • Level 3 Technical qualification in an Engineering discipline/recognised time-served apprenticeship (Electrical/Mechanical).
  • Planned maintenance systems and operations experience.
  • Experience of maintaining and repairing equipment and systems.
  • Understanding of and ability to follow risk assessments and standard operating procedures in the workplace.
  • Ability to attend and present in meetings.
  • Able to prioritise a busy workload and work well under pressure.
  • Able to work at height.
  • Manage stakeholders at all work levels.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to learn.
  • Motivated working alone and as part of a busy team.
  • Able to work with stakeholders and customers appropriate to the role.
  • Good time keeping and attendance.


Desirable:
 

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
  • HNC/HND/BEng.
  • Previous experience within a precision engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using EFACS or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning).
  • Use of Scissor Lift/Manual working platform.
