Students Make The Most Of Work Experience With Advanex
In July, Advanex Europe had the pleasure of welcoming three sixth form students from local schools to our Southwell site for a fun and educational week of work experience.
Each of the three students were a credit to themselves, showing their passion for engineering throughout their time at our European Headquarters.
Throughout the week, the students learned all about Advanex, the products we make, and how every department works as one, spending time with our sales, procurement, supply chain, production, and logistics teams.
They also gained invaluable hands-on experience with maintenance engineering and installation, allowing them to make their very own keyrings in our state-of-the-art toolrooms.
Control Systems Engineer Dan Martin guided the three students through their time with the Maintenance department, and said: “We tested a 3 phase motor for winding resistance to check for balance and continuity.
“We also completed a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), checking over a machine for any issues which are likely to cause a breakdown before it happens.”
Our work experience students also spent significant time with our Aerospace Business Development Manager Alex Stayne, who started his Advanex career as an apprentice over 10 years ago.
Alex demonstrated our extensive range of KATO® Advanex products, taking the students through the engineering capabilities of our Tanged and Tangless® wire thread inserts and associated tooling.
Each of the students provided us with great feedback, noting their collective better understanding of engineering, improved confidence, and an appreciation of how locally based companies are willing to invest in young people.
Advanex Europe is passionate about giving young people the opportunity to experience working life and develop their interests in the manufacturing and engineering industries and is expanding links with local schools to make this happen.
