Advanex has recently announced that they have been successful in achieving AS9100 approval – the world’s most recognised quality management standard in the aerospace industry.

Based in Nottinghamshire, Advanex manufacture millions of springs and other precision metal components for the global aerospace market. The team has ambitious growth plans for the years ahead and recognised that obtaining the approval would be instrumental in becoming a compliant, reliable and preferred supplier within the aerospace industry.

The team has been working hard to obtain the approval, which covers

KATO® inserts and the associated manufacturing functions at the Southwell site.

KATO is the world’s leading wire thread insert that is manufactured from their Southwell site and exported globally. The aerospace industry has numerous applications for KATO® including seating, engine assembly and dashboard instrumentation.  A passenger aircraft can contain in excess of 300,000 inserts. With KATO Tangless®, installation and removal time is 40% quicker than using traditional inserts that contain a tang that requires breaking off and accounting for.

In particular, the approval recognises that Advanex:

• Has strong communication across the organisation

• Monitors customer and supplier feedback on quality management
• Has controls in the work environment that ensure product conformance and safety
